Requirements analysis for socio-technical system design
نویسنده
چکیده
Few methods address analysis of socio-technical system requirements. This paper describes a method for analysing dependencies between users/stakeholders agents and computer systems in the operational environment. Domain scenarios describing the system and its context are used to create an environment model. A method is proposed to define business organisational relationships by operationalising transaction cost theory to obtain an a priori view of relationships according to the market context for a client and supplier. Inter-agent dependencies are investigated to determine the coupling between agents according to type of event flows and dialogue exchanges between them. Coupling metrics are applied to assess the degree of dependencies between the system and the users. High-level requirements are suggested to deal with different types of organisational design. The method is illustrated with two case studies of a service engineer support system and an Internet travel agent.

Using Grounded Theory as a Method for System Requirements Analysis
Requirements analysis (RA) is a key phase in information systems (IS) development. During this phase, system analysts use different techniques and methods to elicit and structure the system’s requirements. The current paper rationalises the use of grounded theory (GT) as an alternative socio-technical approach to requirement analysis. It will establish theoretically that applying grounded theor...

متن کاملModelling and reasoning about security requirements in socio-technical systems
Modern software systems operate within the context of larger socio-technical systems, wherein they interact—by exchanging data and outsourcing tasks—with other technical components, humans, and organisations. When interacting, these components (actors) operate autonomously; as such, they may disclose confidential information without being authorised, wreck the integrity of private data, rely on...
متن کاملSTS-Tool: Security Requirements Engineering for Socio-Technical Systems
We present the latest version of STS-Tool, the modelling and analysis support tool for STS-ml, an actorand goal-oriented security requirements modelling language for socio-technical systems. We show how the STS-Tool supports requirements analysts and security designers in (i) modelling socio-technical systems as a set of interacting actors, who have security needs over their interactions, and (...
متن کاملTowards Acceptance of Socio-technical Systems - An Emphasis on the Requirements Phase
This paper is not a technical research paper, but discusses some essential reasons why socio-technical systems do not get the acceptance by end-users that is typically needed for a successful usage of the systems. One major prerequisite to achieve sufficient acceptance is to ensure a specific treatment of end-users, and stakeholders in general during the requirements engineering phase. Reasons ...
